Jean-Pierre Robinot

Jean-Pierre Robinot has long been a figure in natural wines. Originally from a small village called Chahaignes, in the Loire, it was at the age of 22 that the world of wine became obvious to him. Jean-Pierre Robinot develops his knowledge of wines with winegrowers, journalists, restaurateurs... He created with Michel Bettane Le Rouge et Le Blanc in 1983, a magazine run by a collective of natural wine enthusiasts. Then, Jean-Pierre Robinot founded a wine bar in the 11th arrondissement, a necessary and enriching experience which allowed him to learn, to taste, to meet winegrowers... He would be one of the first bar owners to offer natural wine to Paris and France.
After several years in Paris, he decided to buy land to plant his vines and make wines in his own way, as naturally as possible. For this, he decides to return to his land, in Chahaignes. It was thus in 2002 that the first vintage of Ange-Vin arrived. Jean Pierre cultivates around ten hectares, his philosophy is clear: no use of chemicals, no weedkiller, well-tilled land... He only grows two grape varieties: Chenin in white and Pineau d'Aunis in red.
On the vinification part, it is done slowly, without sulfur and without adding other products. Its Chenin are pressed very slowly and are aged on lees in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months.
His Pineau d'Aunis, after a long vatting, complete their fermentation on lees in barrels for at least a year.
