Julien Guillot

Clos des Vignes du Maynes is an area where time is king. Originally surveyed by the Abbot of Cluny in 910, it has always been cultivated in the most natural way possible. No pesticides or synthetic chemicals have ever been applied there. If Julien Guillot's grandfather inaugurated a new page in its history at the beginning of the 20th century, it was with his father, the late Alain Guillot, that the estate experimented with "natural" winemaking. From the 1950s, he claimed this way of working and subsequently continued to defend it. For several years, Julien has taken up the torch and given a new dimension to the Clos wines.
Another family heritage, and not the least: the attention paid to plant material. Whether by the grandfather, the father or Julien himself, Clos des Vignes du Maynes has always benefited from extraordinary vines. Fine plants, old varieties, mass selections...
The 910 vintage is perhaps the most authentic expression. Blended from the harvest of the 3 grape varieties present on the Clos: Pinot Fin, Gamay and Chardonnay. The vintage honors ancestral winemaking methods which saw reds and whites blended together. A legendary vintage, an always renewed pleasure. Time is once again at work in the Léandre vintage: Chardonnay aged for 4 years in barrels. Julien's patience rewards us and time gives us one of the prettiest Mâconnais whites there is. The kind of wine in which the taste buds wander between minerality, roundness, richness and careful oxidation...
