Bastian Wolber

Although Bastian Wolber was born in Germany, it was in France that he cut his teeth. By working, among others, with Jean-Marc Dreyer, Rudolf and Rita Trossen, Jean-Yves Bizot and Jean-François Ganevat, Bastian was able to observe, understand and experiment. After that, he decided to return to Germany to make his own wine in the production of his brother who owns the Wasenhaus estate.
We meet Bastian Wolber during a joint tasting at the winery which he then shares with Jon Purcell (Vin Noé), Dandelion and Chris Santini. It was in this cellar in Auxey-Duresses, one winter evening in 2020, that we discovered his first wines: Gamay, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It was love at first sight, and we were quickly certain of meeting one of the most promising winegrowers of the young Burgundian guard. He subsequently moved to Volnay to be able to work as he saw fit. Since 2022, Bastian has devoted himself full-time to his activity as a winegrower and little by little recovers a few Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, through leasing and trading. For the 2022 vintage, it therefore offers numerous vintages from vines in Côte de Nuits, Côte Chalonnaise, and other pretty corners of Burgundy.
Bastian's work combines rigor and a certain classicism. Trained at the Bizot and Ganevat schools, the wines pass entirely into barrels of several wines. The reds are made from the whole harvest for our greatest happiness. The wines are precise, balanced and harmonious. The level that Bastian quickly managed to reach impresses us and convinces us in our first impressions.
