The Little Footprint

La Petite Empreinte is an estate based in Courgis in Chablis. Mélissa Bazin and Romain de Moor meet as part of their BTS Viti-Oeno. They in fact do their apprenticeship a few kilometers from each other, in the South Jura: Mélissa with the Labets, and Romain with Jean-François Ganevat. With masters like this, the future could only be promising... They are thus trained in the basics of organic and biodynamic peasant agriculture, but also in natural winemaking.
Building on these two experiences, they decided to return to Chablis, where they first recovered 1 ha of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon vines. They squatted in the family winery - the De Moor estate in Courgis - and vinified their first vintage there in 2021. The wines are made without inputs.
Along the way, other vines presented themselves to them in Chablis and Saint Bris. So this is only the beginning of the story for Mélissa and Romain, but it's a safe bet that these two will continue to be talked about in the coming years.
