Les Horées

We met Catharina Sadde from Domaine Les Horées at the very beginning of her activity, in 2020, when she was still based in Pommard. She was introduced to us at the time by Clarisse de Suremain, a friend of hers and winemaker with whom we work closely.
Catharina is a former chef, who later trained in oenology and viticulture. She had the privilege of working at the Domaine de la Romanée Conti, the Domaine Comte de Vogue and the Domaine des Epeneaux. It was at Domaine Marquis d'Angerville that she completed her training, and where she developed her taste for biodynamics. Accompanied by her husband Guilhem, they are now installed in their new vat room in the heart of Beaune where the Les Horées estate finally has a working tool that matches its ambitions.
The area of approximately 1.3ha stretches from Beaune to Volnay via Pommard. There we find Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Catharina and Guilhem also buy a little bit of grapes each year, also grown according to the same principles.
In the cellar, vinification is done as naturally as possible, without added sulphites. The wines ferment as naturally as possible, and are then accompanied until bottling where a light dose of SO2 is added.
And the name then? The Horeas refers to the festivals of ancient Greece during the change of seasons.

The estate has established itself in recent years as one of the most sought after among the new Burgundian guard. Cuvées such as Bourgogne Aligoté “En Coulezain” or Beaune “Les Prévolles” are now among the sure values of this talented new generation.
