Domain 7

Domaine 7 was created by Abel Benmaamar in 2018. It is based in the Martigné-Briand area, in Anjou, in the Loire and today has an area of 4 hectares.
Before making wine, Abel Benmaamar worked for several years in the railway industry and then one day, a friend offered to sell him his vines. At first, he refuses but will keep this idea in mind for a very long time. It was in 2016 that he took the plunge! He then began BPREA viti-oeno training in Mâcon, deciding to enrich his experience with several winegrowers, notably in Beaujolais with Domaine Thillardon and in the Loire with Patrick Corbineau. In 2018 he met a certain Julien Delrieu, a very talented young winemaker from Anjou who offered him the opportunity to take over a few vines from a group of young winegrowers.
He works in a sector widely observed by natural wine lovers - Stéphane Bernaudeau is present there for example - on vines managed in organic farming. Its vines are around thirty years old, made up of Chenin for the whites and Cabernet Franc for the reds. The vines are all certified in organic farming and are mainly located on a small hillside bordering the Lys, a small stream flowing into the Layon a few meters below. It is a shallow shale soil, typical of the area.
For vinification, Abel Benmaamar proceeds in a simple and traditional way. Fermentations are carried out using native yeasts, then aging in vats and/or barrels. Abel intervenes as little as possible and ensures that the wines are produced as naturally as possible, without however refraining from intervening when necessary. . He is one of the new winegrowers with great potential, for whom we fell in love, Abel Benmaamar from Domaine 7 is therefore a gem to follow very closely.
