Fiona Leroy

Fiona Leroy launched herself and created her estate in 2017 in the Maranges. Half perched on a hill, in the village of Dezize-lès-Maranges in Burgundy, this tiny 2.70 hectares estate is the fruit of rare human encounters, hard work and a lucky star. The work of the vine implies a major respect for the plant, the earth and the fauna. Thus, the entire estate is managed in organic cultivation supplemented by biodynamic preparations. Having fallen in love with the gentle rolling landscapes of the Maranges, it is with great pride that Fiona Leroy cultivates the vines of this characterful appellation, thus perpetuating one of the oldest cultures of humanity: the vine.
Each plot has its identity, its rhythm, its own character which will be reflected in the wine. Spending most of her time with my vines, Fiona values and cultivates them with care. In order to respect their sap flow and improve their defenses, Guyot Poussard pruning is implemented throughout the estate. Opposed to productivist, globalizing agriculture as well as standardized wines, it seeks “common sense” viticulture: thus, all the vines are worked in organic farming. The harvest is manual and the grapes are transported in boxes to avoid deterioration. No machine replaces the precision of the hand and the judgment of the eye.
In the wines, no artifice. The whites are pressed as soon as they arrive at the vat room, settled then lowered by gravity into the cellar where they will continue their fermentation in oak barrels. The reds are installed in vats for fermentation. Once this is finished, they are intoned by gravity. For white wines as for red wines, no new barrels are used. Wishing neither to denature its wines nor betray their terroirs, no oenological yeast is introduced, no oenological product is used apart from low doses of sulfur to protect the wine from possible bacteria...
