Closeries des Moussis

Les Closeries des Moussis is a microdomain managed by two great women since 2009 who make elegant and delicate natural wines in a sometimes harsh terroir of Bordeaux. Pascale Choime, daughter of Cognac, oenologist and former cellar master in a Médoc vineyard, and Laurence Alias, agricultural engineer, have chosen the project of producing natural wines, with the greatest respect for the environment. The vineyard is located in the south of Médoc, in Arsac with a majority of the vines in the Haut-Médoc appellation and a small part in the Margaux appellation. They work their vines in biodynamic agriculture, and all the work in the vineyard is manual and carried out with the help of their draft horse for working the soil.
They practice manual harvesting, which is more natural and delicate. In the cellar, vinification takes place according to the same criteria: with gentle extractions and no or very little new wood, just to get away from the heavy profiles that some Haut-Médoc could have. The wines are made as naturally as possible: fermentations with native yeasts, little or no sulfur, no inputs. We come across Merlot, Cabernet Franc and even Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate seeks to offer natural Médoc wines with delicacy, like the so sadly forgotten winemaking of the 50s and 60s in this region. If the Médoc is a Bordeaux region renowned for producing wines for aging, often not very accessible in their youth, Pascale and Laurence offer natural wines very far from current Bordeaux standards: on finesse and elegance, drinkable and accessible even in their youngest years.
