Geoffrey de Noüel is established at Peuvrie in Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, took charge of the vineyards of the Ligeard family in 2016. After studying biology and obtaining a BTS in viticulture and oenology, this artisan -winemaker has accumulated valuable experience in various wine estates, from Chinon to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His arrival at Peuvrie in 2016 marked the start of his career as an artisan winemaker. The estate covers around ten hectares and is divided into two main entities. The first is located in Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine and includes five localities: Bois Bonnard, Clos de la Peuvrie, Peuvrie, Pesneaux and Vignes des Archambaults. These plots, located in AOC Touraine, represent five distinct terroirs, vinified separately. The second entity is located in Chinonais, encompassing three communes of the AOC Chinon: Avon-lès-Roches (les Noraies), Crouzilles (Belle Vue) and Panzoult (Les Folies). In addition to these two groups, there are also plots scattered in the communes of Crissay-sur-Manse (le Coteau and les Guignetières) and Pouzay (la Billette). These terroirs give rise to special and confidential vintages outside the appellations. The vines are mainly planted in Cabernet Franc, covering most of the plots of Sainte-Maure and Chinonais, as well as those of Crissay-sur-Manse and Pouzay. In Sainte-Maure, Côt is also found, while white grape varieties include Chardonnay and Sauvignon. Geoffrey de Noüel has been practicing organic farming since his first vintage. He carries out meticulous soil work and sulfur/copper treatments to preserve the health of the different grape varieties. The estate adopts a “Burgundian” approach by vinifying the plots separately to preserve the identity of each. This methodology highlights the authenticity and great diversity of the terroirs present on the estate. Finally, the history of the estate would not be complete without mentioning Obama, the mascot of the estate, who likes to gnaw the connecting wires and keep a watchful eye on the tractor which transports the stalks.
