Charles Dufour was born in 1982 into a family of winegrowers in Aube. He lives and works in Landreville in Champagne, where he works the family vineyard. Originally from the Ource Valley, in the Côte des Bar, Charles has been cultivating his vines organically since 2010. He is leading several projects: first of all, Bulles de Comptoir. It is on his vines that he produces each year this vintage which, as its name suggests, aspires to delight us in all simplicity. To do this, he brings together all the plots and all the grape varieties on the estate. Part of the harvest is used, the other part is put into perpetual aging. It is a non-dosed, non-vintage Champagne that delights us year after year. Each release is accompanied by a new label created with an artist. The other project most representative of Charles' style is Bistrøtage. Here, Charles collects the grapes from Françoise Martinot (his mother) and vinifies them in his own way. As always, native yeasts and patience. Charles decides for these vintages to look for more aging on slats (up to 7 years). The result is juices with superlative complexity and depth. Apart from that, Charles brilliantly indulges in several trials of Côteaux Champagne, liqueur wines and other surprises of which he alone has the secret. Long aging, perpetual reserve and controlled oxidation are typical characteristics of its wines.
