The Domaine de la Touraize, whose name is inspired by the place, has been the property of the Morin family since 1704. Nestled at the entrance to Arbois, it is today in the hands of André-Jean and Héléana Morin, representing the eighth generation of family winegrowers to run this historic estate in the region. The family's winemaking history is of inestimable richness, extending its roots back at least to the very beginning of the 17th century. In 1985, André-Jean joined the wine adventure, working alongside his father on the farm. Until 2009, the grapes were delivered to the cooperative, but it was that year that André-Jean made the decision to leave this structure. He then had a vat room and a cellar built. In 2016, his wife Héléna joined him to contribute to this great adventure. The ammonite which adorns the bottle labels refers to the numerous fossils found in the estate's soils. The Domaine de la Touraize extends over 9 hectares of vines cultivated organically and biodynamically. A valuable part of the vineyard includes century-old vines. The soils reflect the entire Jurassic heritage, with blue marls, clay-limestone marls, clay-silt marls, and gravels on marls. In the cellar, Domaine de la Touraize relies on natural fermentations, with the exclusive use of native yeasts, without adding any inputs. Natural white wines rest on their lees for an aging period of 9 to 24 months, in tuns or barrels, without new wood. Red wines are aged in tuns, vats, or even amphorae, depending on the vintage. They are bottled without fining or filtration, following the rhythm of the lunar cycles. Domaine de la Touraize embodies the authenticity of the Jura terroir, while affirming its commitment to organic viticulture and natural winemaking.
