Domaine de Mathalis
A young and promising field
Respectful viticulture and natural winemaking
Founded in 2023 by the passionate duo Matthieu Wild and Lisa Cipolla , Domaine de Mathalis covers approximately 4 hectares of vines located in the communes of Saze and Lirac , west of Avignon , in the Gard department. This young estate stands out for its approach resolutely focused on organic viticulture and natural winemaking .
The estate is certified organic by Ecocert . The vines are cultivated without irrigation , the harvest is carried out manually , and fermentation is done exclusively with indigenous yeasts . The wines are neither filtered nor fined , and a light dose of sulfur is added only to guarantee their stability .
Expressive and accessible vintages
Domaine de Mathalis offers a range of vintages that reflect their commitment to straightforward , pure and unadulterated wines: Macchia : a white in AOP Côtes du Rhône , a blend of Roussanne and Viognier , aged on fine lees in stainless steel vats . Jeannou : a light and fruity red , a blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre , vinified in stainless steel vats . 33 Tours : a juicy red made from Grenache noir and Mourvèdre , also vinified in stainless steel vats . Lirac : a more structured red , 100% Grenache , aged for around 6 months in old demi-muids and barrels on fine lees , without new wood .
Domaine de Mathalis embodies a new generation of committed winemakers , offering natural, precise and accessible wines , which appeal to both amateurs and professionals .
