Francine et François Dhumes
An artisanal domain between the Auvergne Mountains and lunar poetry
Based in Orcet, in the Puy-de-Dôme region, Francine and François Dhumes cultivate their vision of a vibrant and sincere wine under the evocative name of " Le Chant de la Lune ." This name pays homage to the red Easter moon, responsible for a brutal frost in April 2024 that decimated their harvest—an ordeal that only strengthened their connection to life. The Dhumes do not claim to be a conventional estate or simple wine merchants. They embody an artisanal winemaking practice, where transparency is total : carefully selected organic grapes , slow maceration, zero inputs, discreet aging in old barrels, and a constant search for balance between expression of place and respect for the fruit.
Straightforward, vibrant vintages, always in motion
The estate vinifies both its own grapes and selected fruits from Ardèche , Beaujolais or Auvergne , with absolute fidelity to the origin and to life. The emblematic vintages — Minette, Zorah, Nuit Blanche — bear the mark of this sincerity: juices without makeup, often in long infusion, always designed for the pleasure of sharing. Minette : a Gamay d'Auvergne for laying down , deep, vinified in destemmed state, macerated for a long time then aged for a year in old barrels. Zorah : a free and immediate fruit red, made from high-altitude Gamays, vinified with precision using sustainable trade. Nuit Blanche : a complex white made from Chardonnay and Muscat Chardonnay, crossing direct pressing and gentle maceration.
A philosophy of natural wine, in the heart of Auvergne
Beyond their vintages, Francine and François champion a living wine ethic: manual cultivation, labor without additives, respect for lunar cycles , and the refusal of technical compromise. Their wines are not products; they are living materials, expressing the winemaker's hand, the light of the vintage, and the depth of the volcanic soil.
Le Chant de la Lune is a rare estate in Auvergne, worth following closely for all those looking for wines of character, sensitive and deeply human.
