Jean-Paul & Charly Thévenet
A story of transmission and living wines in Villié-Morgon
Four generations dedicated to Gamay
Domaine Jean-Paul et Charly Thévenet , located in Villié-Morgon , in the heart of Beaujolais , embodies a family tradition rooted in natural viticulture .
From the 1980s onwards, Jean-Paul Thévenet , a major figure in the living wine movement with Marcel Lapierre , chose to ban chemical products in favor of an approach that respects the terroir .
A father-son duo with complementary backgrounds
His son Charly Thévenet joined the estate in 2003 after formative experiences in the Loire Valley and Italy .
In 2007 , he signed his own vintage in the Régnié appellation, named Grain et Granit , before merging his project with that of his father in 2019 , thus bringing together 7 hectares of vines spread between Morgon and Régnié .
Artisanal and biodynamic viticulture
The vines, some of which are over 70 years old , are cultivated using uncertified biodynamic methods .
The work is done by hand , with plant-based treatments , and traditional winemaking using carbonic maceration on indigenous yeasts , without fining or filtration and with very little sulfur .
Iconic vintages of purity
The estate offers several emblematic wines , including Morgon Tradition , Morgon Vieilles Vignes , Grain et Granit and En Voiture Simone .
Each one expresses the purity of Gamay , with elegant, fruity wines , carried by a beautiful minerality , testifying to the Thévenet family's commitment to authentic and vibrant wines .
