Domaine des Avanchés
A human-scale estate, committed to organic viticulture
Located in Montmorot, within the L'Étoile appellation, Domaine des Avanchés cultivates the authenticity of the southern Jura region with conviction. On approximately 5 hectares of organically farmed vines , the estate explores the essence of Jura grape varieties— Chardonnay, Savagnin, Trousseau, and Poulsard —revealing the minerality of the clay-limestone and marl soils that characterize this area. The work is precise, manual, and respectful of the natural cycles and materials. No superfluous additives are used, filtration is not systematic, and natural winemaking allows the wine to express its terroir.
A vibrant approach to wine: between energy and clarity
Each wine from the estate reflects a commitment to authenticity and clarity. The Chardonnay “Aéria,” aged first in tanks and then in topped-up barrels, reveals the freshness and tension of the grape variety grown on limestone soils. The Savagnin, aged under a veil of yeast, expresses local tradition with notes of nuts, spices, and a lingering salinity. As for the reds— Trousseau and Poulsard —they offer clear, fresh, unadulterated wines, vinified gently to preserve fruitiness and drinkability. Vinification relies on indigenous yeasts, sometimes with controlled semi-carbonic maceration or gentle whole-cluster maceration, always adhering to a principle of informed non-intervention.
L'Étoile: a high-altitude terroir that makes Jura grape varieties shine
The estate benefits from exceptional soil, where Bajocian chalk outcrops beneath layers of clay and marl, giving the wines a saline precision and a beautiful length. The moderate altitude and north-northeast exposure contribute to slow and balanced ripening, yielding elegant whites and vibrant, floral reds.
