Champagne Lemaire

It is in the commune of Boursault, in the heart of wine-growing Champagne, that Aurélien Lemaire took over the family estate in 2019. Aurélien is part of this new generation of Champagne winegrowers who are revitalizing a region formerly locked in its brand image. From the start, he decided to farm his vines organically. At the estate, no more chemical inputs in the vines. The soil will be plowed, weeds accepted and treatments will be carried out with minimum doses of sulfur and copper. Wishing to bring diversity back to his vines, Aurélien will also undertake to replant several dozen trees along the edges and in his own plots. He is thus part of the approach of many young and talented winegrowers including Flavien Nowack, Antoine Bouvet and Romain Hénin.
In the cellar, too, Aurélien seeks to simplify things. The vintages are vinified with native yeasts, aging is done with minimal doses of sulfur when necessary. The champagnes are then offered undosed. Aurélien also wants to offer champagnes from a single harvest, to best reflect the vintage effect.
His first vintage Les Terres Jaunes did not fail to panic the microcosm of natural wine and lovers of winegrower's champagnes. There is no doubt that Aurélien will continue to amaze and delight us in the coming vintages of a career that is only just beginning.
