Elodie Balme

Finesse and authenticity in Rasteau

A winemaker rooted in family history

Élodie Balme comes from a line of winegrowers established in Rasteau since 1789. After studying wine business, she trained in viticulture and oenology, notably with Marcel Richaud in Cairanne. In 2006 , at only 23 years old, she vinified her first vintages on 3.5 hectares of family vines. The estate now covers around 23 hectares , spread between Rasteau , Roaix and Buisson , with vines sometimes a hundred years old.

Respectful viticulture and natural winemaking

From the outset, Élodie Balme has adopted an environmentally friendly approach: working the soil, organic amendments, treatments limited to copper and sulfur. The harvest is manual , fermentation is carried out without added yeast , without acidification or corrective techniques. Sulphur is used sparingly, only at bottling. The aging in concrete vats is adjusted for each plot, in order to best reflect the typicality of the terroirs.

Expressive and elegant vintages

The estate produces a full range of Côtes-du-Rhône , Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Roaix , Rasteau and Vins de France . Among the emblematic vintages: Les Champs Libres , a fresh and fruity Roaix red, or Libre comme l'R , a lively and aromatic white. Élodie Balme 's wines seduce with their purity , their balance and their ability to fully express the terroir , with great sincerity.
