Grange Saint-Sauveur
Domaine La Grange Saint-Sauveur, Anjou in chiaroscuro on the banks of the Loire
A story of place, brought to life by Alice Gitton and Antoine Pouponneau
At Thoureil , on the banks of the Loire, very close to Angers , Alice Gitton And Antoine Pouponneau sign with The Saint-Sauveur Barn A discreet but already very distinctive domain. Antoine, oenologist And specialist in microbiology has long supported winemakers with fermentations in indigenous yeasts , and this requirement is reflected here in a clear expression of the fruit and the soil. The vineyard, approximately 6 hectares , bringing together a mosaic of Loire Valley grape varieties — Chenin , black grolleau And gray , Pineau d'Aunis , Gamay petit grain , cabernet franc — often from old vines trained in cup and developed using an approach geared towards the organic and the biodynamics .
Living wines, precise balance and a strong sense of terroir
In the winery, the idea is not to overdo it: to let the wine settle, to protect its energy, to guide rather than correct. The winemaking process seeks the purity , radiance and a form of minerality which adds depth, with aging processes that build texture without masking the wine. The house style speaks quietly but leaves its mark: Living, straightforward, luminous wines , where the Loire can be read in the tension, the grain and the finish — a signature of contemporary Anjou, both precise and deeply inhabited.
