A vocation born between the Loire and the Rhône

From future sports teacher to artisan winemaker

François Dumas, originally from Véranne in the Loire region , discovered his passion for vines in 2004 during a season at Cuilleron. Initially destined to become a sports teacher, he changed career paths to train in viticulture and oenology, obtaining a BPREA in Tournon. He then worked for renowned winemakers such as Jean-Louis Chave in Hermitage and Jean-Louis Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin , where he honed his skills before going solo.

A deep commitment to the living

Settlement in Véranne, beginnings in Saint-Joseph and Condrieu

In 2010, François settled in Véranne and produced his first vintage. Three years later, he took over plots in Saint-Joseph and Condrieu. Today, he cultivates approximately 4 hectares of organic vines , with organic certification in progress.

An approach inspired by Fukuoka

François is deeply committed to rigorous organic viticulture, influenced by natural farming principles such as those of Masanobu Fukuoka. He avoids bare soil and experiments with various natural methods , often at the expense of immediate profitability.

Natural and respectful winemaking

Native yeasts, minimal sulfur, maximum terroir

The soil is cultivated without chemicals, and François favors natural winemaking . He uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation and limits the use of sulfur to very low levels. This approach allows for the production of authentic wines that faithfully reflect their terroir.
