Casot des Mailloles
Casot des Mailloles, the free roots of Roussillon
A place apart, between sea, wind and rock
Le Casot des Mailloles is first and foremost a dizzying place: plots suspended above Banyuls , where the tramontane wind whips the vines and the schist concentrates the heat. The estate takes its name from the " casots ", these small dry stone huts typical of the local vineyard. This harsh, sunny, almost extreme setting gives rise to grapes of rare intensity.
From the hand of Alain Castex to Jordi Perez
Historically run by Alain Castex , the estate experienced a turning point in 2015 with the arrival of Jordi Perez , a young, passionate winemaker who perpetuates the free and artisanal spirit of the place. No inputs, either in the vineyard or in the cellar, harvests by hand, work by gravity, no pumps, and patient aging, often in old barrels or vats.
Vintages with a strong personality
Casot wines, whether deep reds like Tierra de los Perdidos , saline whites or rare rosés, are all intensely alive, with a mineral imprint marked by the schist. The vintages are sulfur-free, raw, sometimes unpredictable, but always vibrant. These are wines that speak loudly, without detour, and which have now become among the benchmarks for Catalan natural wine.
