Christian Rouchier
Christian Rouchier, winemaker in Saint-Joseph since 2007
A committed viticulture that respects living things
Christian Rouchier's estate is located in the Saint-Joseph appellation and has existed since 2007. Christian Rouchier , who comes from a family of farmers , initially managed a mixed farm before purchasing his first 1.5 hectares of vines . In 2010 , he adopted organic farming , with horse-drawn ploughing .
Initially, Christian sold his grapes to the trade , but in 2013 , he decided to vinify his entire production . He also planted new vines of Viognier , Marsanne , and continues to work with Syrah . Committed to agroforestry , he minimizes soil work and plants hedges and trees to maintain biodiversity .
Natural vinifications and wines with character
The vinifications are carried out using whole harvests for the reds and direct pressing for the whites , with aging in oak barrels . The estate's red wines are distinguished by fine tannins , florality and marked black fruits . The whites are aromatic with a beautiful salinity on the finish .
