Domaine de La Tournelle
Arbois tradition and living wine
A clear and committed philosophy
In 1991, Evelyne and Pascal Clairet breathed life into Domaine de la Tournelle, nestling in the heart of the Arboisappellation. Over the years, from their 8 hectares of vines, they have been able to promote their wines well beyond the borders of this appellation, demonstrating their commitment to quality and tradition.
Biodynamics as a guiding principle
The couple's philosophy is resolutely simple: to produce grapes without the use of chemicals, by favouring manual labour in the vineyards. Since 2007, the estate's vines have been cultivated biodynamically, which means maintaining the vineyards without chemical weedkillers, meticulous ploughing, controlled grassing, and theabandonment of chemical fertilisers in favour of precious horse compost. Biodynamic preparations are favoured, and the grapes are harvested by hand.
Natural winemaking to reveal the terroir
Domaine de la Tournelle works with the emblematic grape varieties of the Jura: Chardonnay, Savagnin, Trousseau and Ploussard. In the cellar, vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts, and sulphur is not used, except for a few cuvées during bottling. For ageing, the estate opts to use tuns and barrels, but never new wood. In their relentless quest for minerality, they carry out long maturations on fine lees, over a period of 18 to 24 months.
A journey that continues with brilliance
Domaine de la Tournelle perfectly embodies the combination of Arbois traditions and innovation. We highly recommend discovering their cuvée "Uva Arbosiana," a Ploussard in semi-carbonic maceration, which will delight fans of light wines with a strong personality. Despite Pascal's departure in 2021, Evelyne is continuing the adventure with brio. Domaine de la Tournelle offers wines of remarkable aromatic purity and unequalled precision of taste.
