La Maison Romane
The Authenticity of Burgundy’s Pinot Noir
Oronce de Beler, a Passion for Burgundy
In 2004, Oronce de Beler, driven by his passion for Burgundy’s Pinot Noir, made the decision to leave Paris and settle in Vosne-Romanée. He embarked on a series of wine-related experiences: studying viticulture in Beaune, interning at family-run estates, and even founding a horse-drawn plowing company on the Côte d’Or.
Through these encounters, enriching exchanges, and countless tastings, La Maison Romane was born.
During the 2005 harvest, Oronce de Beler purchased his first grapes, marking the beginning of his winemaking journey. From the outset, he adopted a consistent winemaking approach: minimalist and natural, with limited intervention and minimal use of sulfur. His wines are systematically vinified with whole clusters.
A Winery in Nuits-Saint-Georges and a Natural Winemaking Philosophy
In 2017, La Maison Romane moved to Nuits-Saint-Georges, into a larger vaulted cellar, allowing for a carefully managed expansion.
Grapes remain the foundation of the process: Oronce maintains close relationships with organic and biodynamic growers or those practicing sustainable viticulture. The grapes are hand-harvested, with meticulous selection both in the vineyard and on the sorting table.
In the cellar, intervention is minimal: gentle cap management, little to no sulfur, and 12 months of aging in old oak barrels. There is no fining or filtration, and each bottle is manually sealed with a wax stamp.
La Maison Romane: Purity, Respect for Terroir, and Precision
Since its inception, La Maison Romane has been committed to purity, respecting terroir, and simplicity in winemaking.
The meticulous work of Oronce de Beler ensures that every cuvée is a faithful and sincere expression of Burgundy and its Pinot Noir.
