Wines of Lorraine
A vineyard in full renaissance
Lorraine It was once a vast vineyard, reduced by successive wars to a mere 180 hectares. However, despite the limited land dedicated to viticulture, the Lorraine vineyards still have much to teach us about our local terroirs and about living wines. Climate change is actively contributing to milder growing conditions, allowing for surprising results in the unique expression of Pinot Noir and Gamay. The result is red wines made without additives, light in tannins but with true character and aromatic depth.
Rare white wines and a booming natural dynamic
Although vibrant white wines are largely in the minority, Chardonnay and Auxerrois are produced, with profiles of volume and lusciousness typical of clay-limestone soils. This revival of the Lorraine vineyards has allowed for a biodynamic and natural approach by winemakers who are now contributing to its rapidly growing reputation, as exemplified by... Pierre Andrey . A vineyard to watch very closely in the years to come.
