From wine bar to winery: a natural and daring shift
In 2018 and at not even 30 years old, Amélie and Alexandre Desanges-Guilin decided to leave their wine bar in Clermont Ferrand and embark on the great adventure of natural wine. These two former trained sommeliers then recovered a small part of the family building located in Vensat (30 km north of Clermont) to transform it into a winery and begin their activity as winegrowers in natural wine.
A living estate, between mixed farming and biodynamics
A global operation in their image
But their desire to set up is not limited to just making natural wines. Amélie and Alexandre have a complete vision of things. Their project is intended to be global and respectful of their principles of life. This is how they will succeed in creating a real mixed-culture operation. In addition to the Grenache, Gamay, Muscat d'Alexandrie, Aligoté and Sauvignon that they produce biodynamically and without any added sulfur, the couple also raise chickens, sheep, pigs, and make, among other things, their own honey.
An everyday philosophy rooted in the vineyard
Particularly sensitive to ecology, they decided to create more than a wine estate: it is the art of applying their philosophy to the vineyard as well as to their everyday lives.
Cuvées full of energy, in their own image
And their energy is reflected in their wines, for example with their flagship vintage Attendre l’Hiver. This 100% Gamay d'Auvergne, which electrifies you with its bright fruit and the tension resulting from its granite terroir. In another style, their Sabwa vintage will envelop you with all the creaminess and delicacy that a maceration of Muscat of Alexandria can offer.
Amélie and Alexandre are part of this new generation of farmer-winemakers who are uncompromising, passionate and unwavering.
