Paolo Giordano

Barolo Artisan in Perno

An estate rooted in Monforte d'Alba

Paolo Giordano , a renowned winemaker based in Monforte d'Alba , in the Piedmont region of Italy , manages a 5-hectare wine estate located in the hamlet of Perno . This area is particularly suitable for growing Nebbiolo , thanks to its fertile soils and favorable climate .

Sustainable and respectful viticulture

Paolo Giordano adopts sustainable and organic viticulture , rigorously demanding chemical products . He favors natural methods for the management of weeds and diseases , thus respecting the environment .

In the cellar, he uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation , guaranteeing maximum authenticity of his wines. Macerations last between 20 and 40 days depending on the vintage, with daily pumping over to ensure optimal extraction of aromas and tannins . The wines are then aged for 6 to 18 months in used barrels and stainless steel vats , before being refined in bottles for a year .

No filtration or fining is practiced, and the addition of sulfur is strictly limited to necessary cases, in order to preserve the purity and quality of the wine .

Two emblematic vintages: Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo Perno

Paolo Giordano mainly produces two types of wine : Langhe Nebbiolo and Barolo Perno .

Langhe Nebbiolo is a red wine from vineyards planted in 1990 and 2010. It ages for 6 months in steel vats and used oak barrels , then benefits from an additional 6 months of maturation in bottle .

Barolo Perno is a red wine from vines planted in 1986 , undergoes a 20-day maceration , is aged for 24 months in 10-hectoliter oak barrels , then refined for 12 months in bottle .

A signature faithful to the terroir

Paolo Giordano's wines are renowned for their finesse , structure , and ability to faithfully reflect the typicality of the Monforte d'Alba terroir . His commitment to sustainable viticultural practices and traditional winemaking methods make his vintages respected benchmarks throughout the Piedmont region.

All of his work demonstrates a deep passion for wine and an unwavering respect for nature and the terroir .
