Vincent Bergeron

Vincent Bergeron, living Chenins in the heart of Montlouis-sur-Loire

A estate built alongside Frantz Saumon

Originally from Loir-et-Cher, Vincent Bergeron settled in Husseau, in the heart of the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation. His journey in wine began in 2012, during the harvest at Frantz Saumon. He stayed there for several years, learning the work of the vineyard and the cellar, then acquired his first plots in 2017. The estate gradually grew to reach today approximately 3.5 hectares, mainly planted with Chenin, accompanied by a few vines of Pinot Noir.

The vines are managed organically on the Montlouis terroirs, between clay, flint and limestone soils resting on tuffeau. Some Chenin plots come from old massal selections, over forty years old. In the vineyard, Vincent works with limited treatments, manual harvesting and constant attention to the ripeness of the grapes.

Patient and unadorned vinifications

In the cellar, fermentations start naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts. Pressing is gentle, without settling, and the wines are aged in tanks or old barrels depending on the cuvées. Vincent uses neither fining nor filtration and severely limits sulfur additions, with some bottles being bottled without any additions. This approach gives birth to deep and taut Chenins, where the material is always carried by freshness and minerality.

Cuvées such as Matin, Midi et Soir, Une Rose en Hiver or En Attendant Godet each tell a facet of his work: dry whites, sparkling wines and reds are produced in small quantities, with the same search for balance and sincerity. Living, precise and unpretentious wines, like this discreet Montlouis winemaker.
