Alexandre Chartogne, parcel-by-parcel exploration above all

Based in Merfy, north-west of Reims, Alexandre Chartogne took over the family estate in 2006 after a formative period working with Anselme Selosse. Since then, he has dedicated his work to better understanding each parcel in his village, convinced that Merfy possesses a unique geological identity within Champagne. 

Site-specific champagnes, precise and profoundly alive

The vineyard is meticulously managed with careful soil work and vinifications that prioritize indigenous yeasts, aging tailored to each terroir, and minimal intervention. Each cuvée seeks to express the uniqueness of a parcel rather than a house style. The champagnes of Chartogne-Taillet are today recognized for their depth, texture, and their remarkable ability to reveal the nuances of Merfy's terroirs.
