Maffrei, the new generation of La Morra

Andrea Mascarello, Piedmontese heritage with a contemporary vision

Founded in 2021 in La Morra, the birthplace of Nebbiolo, the Maffrei project is led by Andrea Mascarello, joined full-time by his brother Stefano in 2024. Coming from a family of winemakers, they learned alongside their father and uncle, but also from local figures such as Giulia Negri, who supported Andrea on the first vintage.

The vineyards are located in La Morra (Nebbiolo on high-altitude silts and sands) and in Diano d’Alba for Dolcetto, with future prospects in Torriglione for Barolo.

Freshness, stainless steel, and controlled classicism

Vinifications are carried out exclusively in stainless steel tanks, with approximately 10% whole clusters, to preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The wines retain Piedmontese classicism while gaining in accessibility and finesse. A new guard that respects the codes while lightening them.
