Le Grappin
Le Grappin: Artisan Burgundy Between Freedom and Precision
Andrew and Emma Nielsen, an Australian Perspective on Burgundy
Based in Beaune, Le Grappin is the project founded by Andrew and Emma Nielsen, an Australian couple who arrived in Burgundy with the desire to produce sincere, artisanal wines deeply rooted in their terroirs. After several experiences in the Burgundy vineyards, notably at Domaine Simon Bize in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Andrew launched Le Grappin in 2011 as a micro-négociant, before gradually developing his own vineyard.
Today, the estate works parcels spread across the Mâconnais, the Côte de Beaune, and some more confidential areas, with an approach that respects the living environment and the identity of each place.
Minimal Intervention Winemaking and a True Understanding of the Fruit
In both the vineyard and the cellar, the philosophy remains understated: grapes from carefully tended parcels, fermentations with indigenous yeasts, minimal extraction, measured aging, and minimal intervention to preserve the freshness and natural balance of the wines.
Le Grappin produces both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, always with the aim of maintaining dynamism, drinkability, and a true readability of the terroir. The wines avoid excessive oak or concentration, instead prioritizing finesse, energy, and precision.
A Contemporary, Free, and Deeply Accessible Burgundy
Andrew and Emma Nielsen's wines reflect a very current vision of Burgundy: accessible yet serious cuvées that combine immediate pleasure with depth. They often display great fruit purity, supple textures, and a sense of living wine, conceived above all for the enjoyment of the glass and the table.
