Milan Nestarec
Milan Nestarec, Moravia in motion and unfiltered
Velké Bílovice, a family estate turned into an ideas lab
Based in Velké Bílovice, Moravia, Milan Nestarec embodies a generation of winemakers who have profoundly renewed the interpretation of wine in Eastern Europe. Coming from a family of winemakers, he took over the winemaking at the family estate at a very young age before gradually structuring his own project, now spanning approximately 24 hectares of vines.
The vineyard mainly rests on loam and clay soils, with some sandy areas, and a great diversity of grape varieties, from Grüner Veltliner to Neuburger, including Pinot Blanc, Blaufränkisch, and Pinot Noir.
But more than just an estate, Milan Nestarec claims an almost conceptual approach to wine: for him, wine is above all a means of expression, a way of conveying a vision of the world and a relationship with living things.
Organic farming, free winemaking, and wine energy
The estate is managed with organic farming (certified since 2022, practiced since 2008) with attention paid to natural balances and soil vitality. Harvests are manual, fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, and winemaking takes place without fining or filtration, with very little or no added sulfur depending on the cuvées.
Milan Nestarec's wines are distinguished by their energy, their freedom of tone, and their ability to break free from classic frameworks. Some cuvées can be experimental, others more direct and accessible, but all seek to preserve a lively interpretation of the grape and the vintage.
With an annual production of approximately 75,000 bottles, the estate has now established itself as a benchmark in the Central European natural wine scene, with wines that are both vibrant, sincere, and deeply personal.
