Obora

Obora, the new guard of Beaujolais

Angela Quiblier and Hugo Foizel, from Burgundy to Chénas

The Obora estate was born in 2021 under the impetus of Angela Quiblier and Hugo Foizel, two oenologists who worked at some of the most prestigious Burgundy estates, notably Domaine Leroy and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. After several experiences in France and abroad, they chose to settle in Chénas, one of Beaujolais' most confidential crus, to bring their own project to life.

The estate currently covers approximately 6 to 6.5 hectares, primarily in the Chénas and Juliénas crus, with plots distributed among granite, alluvial, and white sand terroirs. The vines are cultivated organically and biodynamically, with particular attention paid to the expression of the soils and the vitality of the grapevines.

Gamays of finesse, energy, and texture

In the cellar, Angela and Hugo favor low-intervention vinification: whole-bunch harvesting, semi-carbonic maceration, natural fermentations, and aging adapted to each cuvée. Their approach seeks precision more than power, with a true pursuit of texture and elegance.

Obora wines offer a modern interpretation of Beaujolais: fine, luminous, and deep Gamays, capable of combining immediate gourmandise with great precision. These cuvées reveal all the delicacy of Chénas and Juliénas, far from clichés, with much freshness, energy, and personality.
