Orchis Estate

Domaine des Orchis: a unique vision of alpine viticulture

Domaine des Orchis , located in Poisy , north of Annecy in the Savoie region , is run by Philippe Héritier . A former engineer and snail farmer , Philippe embarked on winemaking in 2006 , cultivating Mondeuse and Altesse grapes biodynamically on the slopes of Frangy . The estate is distinguished by its respect for the terroir , using no chemical inputs and favoring indigenous yeasts and herbal teas for the vines. The wines , aged in tanks and barrels , are full-bodied , generous , and vibrant , thanks to meticulous winemaking and a blend of all the barrels for each cuvée. The estate's cellar , built according to the proportions of the golden ratio , reflects harmony and well-being , the result of a collaboration between Philippe and an architect specializing in geobiology . This unique approach goes beyond simple agroecological viticulture , seeking to achieve exceptional aesthetics and quality.

A holistic approach to wine and biodiversity

The wines of Domaine des Orchis , increasingly recognized for their finesse , have established Philippe Héritier as a rising star in Alpine viticulture . In addition to wine production , the estate is also known for snail farming , thus complementing an integrated and environmentally friendly agricultural approach .
