Casot des Mailloles
Casot des Mailloles, the free roots of Roussillon
A unique place, between sea, wind and rock
Casot des Mailloles is first and foremost a breathtaking place: plots of land perched above Banyuls , where the tramontane wind whips the vines and the schist concentrates the heat. The estate takes its name from the " casots ," the small dry-stone huts typical of the local vineyards. This rugged, sun-drenched, almost extreme setting gives rise to grapes of rare intensity.
From Alain Castex to Jordi Perez
Historically owned by Alain Castex , the estate underwent a transformation in 2015 with the arrival of Jordi Perez , a passionate young winemaker who perpetuates the free and artisanal spirit of the place. No additives are used, neither in the vineyard nor in the cellar; the harvest is done by hand, the wines are worked using gravity flow, there are no pumps, and the aging process is patient, often in old barrels or vats.
Wines with a strong personality
The wines of Casot , whether the deep reds like Tierra de los Perdidos , the saline whites, or its rare rosés, are all intensely vibrant, with a pronounced minerality from the schist soil. The wines are unsulfured, raw, sometimes unpredictable, but always exuberant. These are wines that speak loudly and directly, and have now become benchmarks of Catalan living wine.
