Las del Rio

Las del Rio, the free spirit of the Loire hills

A story rooted in the banks of the Layon

HAS Rochefort-sur-Layon in Anjou (Loire Valley) , Jérôme Saurigny , more recently supported by his partner Caroline has been leading a profoundly free and personal project since the mid-2000s. After studying oenology in Bordeaux and gaining experience as a cellar master at In Pomerol , Jérôme embraced "natural" winemaking in the Loire Valley under the influence of pioneering winemakers. He then decided to abandon chemical inputs to produce wines without the addition of sulfur or other additives , favoring the native yeasts and authentic fermentations.

Living wines, a mosaic of Loire Valley grape varieties

The domain, also commonly identified as the name “Las del Rio” or as a creative extension of Domaine Saurigny cultivates a wide range of grape varieties typical of the Loire Valley: Sauvignon Blanc , Chenin Blanc , Cabernet Franc , Gamay , Grolleau and sometimes more daring blends. The winemaking process takes place With no additives , often using spontaneous maceration, to preserve the natural vitality of the fruit and the energy of the terroir. The wines reflect this diversity: taut and vibrant whites, fruity and structured reds, rosés, and orange wines where the expression of the grape takes precedence over style. Some wines are made by Carolie, others by Jérôme and Caroline.

Las del Rio asserts itself as a strong signature of contemporary Loire — a viticulture vibrant, sincere and free , where the Loire Valley terroir and the gestures of the winemaker combine to produce wines that are honest, vibrant and deeply personal.
