Domaine Amama , the reborn soul of the Basque vineyard
From family takeover to organic conversion
the domain Amama is installed at Irouleguy in the heart of the Basque Country. 2022 , Joanes Haritschelhar And Naiara Cuburu take the reins of this family farm dating back to 1995 and begin the organic conversion , they build their own winery at Irouleguy and begin making wine on site. At the same time, they cultivate 3 hectares spread across several plots located in sandstone terraces, sandstone-marl slopes or of ophites.
Wines made without additives, expressing each plot individually, and crafted with sensitivity.
The product domain Plot by plot , with strict limitations on inputs and vinification in stainless steel tanks. These two cuvées now constitute its signature: Zain (white) , Egu (red) Iluni (red) & a sparkling rosé . Zain assembly Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu cultivated on sandstone in the plot White mint . Egu combined Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon based on a 50% / 25% / 25% blend. Iluni is located on Ophite soils , with a predominance of Tannat and aging in stainless steel tanks. In all cases, the project prioritizes the purity of the fruit , the freshness and a mineral expression aligned with the Pyrenean relief.
