Arnaud Chapuis
Arnaud Chapuis , natural winemaker of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune
From Échevronne to sulfur-free wines: history, vines and style
Installed in Échevronne , in the heart of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune , Arnaud Chapuis built a small natural wine estate after a very Burgundian career change: former factory worker quarries of Comblanchien , he turned to vineyards in 2011 then signs his first vintage in 2014 by taking over the family vineyards. He now works approximately 1.5 ha of Pinot Noir and Aligoté (old vines planted between 1930 and 1970 ), to which is added 1 ha planted in 2020. His career has led him to several leading wineries, a school of precise technique put at the service of simple, straightforward and low-intervention viticulture.
In the vineyards as in the winery, the line is clear: organic farming , hand-harvested grapes, natural winemaking without added sulfur , for Aligoté cuvées and Pinot Noir with a clear, bright, and very digestible expression. These wines, produced in small quantities, are distinguished by a fruit purity and one energy that enthusiasts seek, typical of the cool hillsides of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune .
