La Butte aux Cerfs
La Butte aux Cerfs, a breath of Loire between Layon and schists
Julien Bérenger, sensitive viticulture in the heart of Anjou
Based in Faye-d'Anjou since 2020 , Julien Bérenger has signed La Butte aux Cerfs, a project deeply rooted in the living Loire . Alongside Justine , he cultivates around 6 hectares of vines using organic farming methods , in the heart of the Layon hillsides, where the ochre and purple schist gives the wines this unique mineral tension. The estate is committed to viticulture that respects the living, favoring natural balances and soil cycles. Here, every gesture is measured, each vine observed with attention - an approach where humans serve the terroir, not the other way around.
Sincere wines, reflections of Layon and life
Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Pinot d'Aunis, Gamay and Cabernet Sauvignon make up a patchwork of grape varieties that flourish on plots chosen for their geological diversity. In the cellar, there is no artifice : fermentation is spontaneous , ageing is slow , and interventions are reduced to the bare minimum to preserve the purity of the fruit. The vintages, such as Lezarus , Raineta or Cervus Aplum , frankly express the personality of each terroir, between depth, uprightness and brilliance. The estate thus embodies this Loire generation that restores the wine's rhythm, sincerity and energy.
