A vineyard perched in Avenas, dedicated to Gamay and authenticity
From 2005 , Julien Sunier manages his estate The Hazelnut Farm , nestled in 750 meters above sea level in the village of Avenas , in the heart of Beaujolais. The estate now extends over 5 hectares , spread over the appellations Fleurie, Morgon and Régnié , exclusively planted in Gamay . Engaged in viticulture organic , it bans synthetic products, favors organic inputs (manure, compost), works the soil on the surface and practices plant sowing to enrich the microbial life of the soil. Lively wines, from the plot to subtle aging
In the cellar, Julien adopts a respectful approach: manual harvesting, careful sorting from the vine, vatting by gravity with whole harvests, low temperature vatting and aging for 8 to 11 months on fine lees , in barrels of 228 L. Its wines reveal a purity of fruit , a fine elegance and a vibrant expression of granite terroirs. Through his measured gestures, Sunier builds a signature where dynamism And transparency converge, placing his name among the most promising winemakers of Beaujolais.
