Domaine Derain
Domaine Derain, a cornerstone of living Burgundy
Dominique Derain, biodynamics and a free spirit
Founded by Dominique Derain, Domaine Derain is a historic pillar of living wines in Burgundy. For more than 30 years, Dominique and his wife farmed around 6 hectares in Saint-Aubin, practicing biodynamics with deep conviction. Their philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, using horn manure, silica and natural preparations to allow the terroir to express itself with clarity and purity.
The wines of Domaine Derain, renowned for their authenticity and freshness, have left a lasting mark on the world of living wines. Cuvées such as Plante Chassey and La Combe have become benchmarks, praised for their finesse and their faithful reading of terroir.
A transmission true to the original spirit
Since late 2016, Julien Altaber of Maison Sextant has taken over the estate alongside Carole Schwab, carrying forward the legacy of Dominique Derain. Under their direction, the domaine continues to produce unadorned wines, bringing together the parcels under the Domaine Derain name to offer Saint-Aubin, Pommard, and other Burgundies that are free-spirited and sincere.
