A return to roots on the hillsides of Irouléguy

Located in Ispoure, in the heart of the appellation Irouléguy , the Etxondoa Estate embodies the new spirit of the Basque vineyard. Created in 2019 by Olivier Pouchoulou , a local son who returned after experiences in Burgundy and Côte-Rôtie, now cultivates nearly 4.5 hectares of vineyards on vertiginous slopes, up to A 45% incline , overlooking the Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port valley. The soils of The red sandstone of Arradoy , mixed with clay and limestone, imprints its mineral character on wines that are both powerful and refined. Here, viticulture is manual, patient, and respectful: each vine is cultivated like a living sculpture.

Living wines, Basque precision and the emotion of the terroir

THE wines without additives The wines from Domaine Etxondoa reflect a sincere and sensitive approach to winemaking. The reds, dominated by the Tannat and Cabernet Franc reveal notes of black fruit, garrigue, and sweet spices, carried by an elegant and refined structure. The white wines, made from Gros and Petit Manseng display a saline freshness and vibrant tension. Each vintage — especially the Xut , emblematic of the slopes of Irouléguy, expresses the truth of a place and the winemaker's desire to capture its raw energy, without artifice.
