La Ferme du Mont Benault – Anjou, the hand and the living
Stéphane Rocher's Loire garden
In Mont Benault, a hamlet in the Loire Valley between Beaulieu-sur-Layon and Bellevigne-en-Layon, Stéphane Rocher cultivates a simple idea of wine: entirely manual harvests, precise sorting, preserved juices, and aging without artifice. The organic estate (AB certified) has established itself with vibrant, accessible, and clean natural wines, where freshness guides the winemaker's gesture.
In the cellar, intervention is discreet: no fining, minimal sulfur at bottling when necessary, and respect for fermentation gas to preserve the energy of the grapes. A philosophy that results in frank, straightforward vintages, with that extra boost that is the hallmark of Mont Benault.
