Domaine Els Jelipins is a small, family-run winery located in Font-Rubí , in the Penedès region of Catalonia, Spain . It is run by Glòria Garriga and her daughter Berta , who established the estate in 2001 with the desire to live in harmony with nature and produce wines that directly reflect their environment. Their approach is deeply rooted in respecting natural cycles , treating the vines as living entities and adapting their winemaking methods to each plot, its exposure, geology, and unique potential.
Sumoll and sustainable viticulture, balance and longevity
The estate particularly values the indigenous Sumoll grape , a historic Catalan variety, drought-resistant and naturally low-yielding, which had almost disappeared before being revived by winemakers like Glòria. The vines are carefully selected on hillsides , and the grapes are harvested by hand to guarantee healthy and expressive fruit. Vinification is carried out with minimal intervention —spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, long aging in barrels, amphorae, and tanks without filtration, sometimes with a minimal addition of sulfur—in order to let the terroir speak for itself. Each bottle is decorated with a hand-painted heart , a symbol of the love and care given to every stage of the process.
Els Jelipins is thus renowned for its deep, crystalline, and balanced wines, which reveal a purity of fruit and a refined mineral expression . Production remains very limited, made for those seeking a vibrant, sensitive, and personal interpretation of the Catalan Penedès.
