Champagne Benoit Déhu

Champagne Benoît Déhu , the Miller in chiaroscuro at Fossoy

Marne Valley, living soils and family heritage

Installed in Fossoy , in the Marne Valley , Benoît Déhu embodies a demanding and deeply rooted approach to grower champagne. The family estate, worked for several generations, is today managed with meticulous attention to living soils and to the balance of the vine. The plots rest on Clays mixed with sands and chalk , an ideal terroir to reveal the singularity of the Pinot Meunier , the central grape variety of the estate. Viticulture is carried out in biodynamics , with precise soil work, controlled yields and constant observation of living organisms.

Single-vineyard Champagnes, the energy of the fruit and the precision of the gesture

In the cellar, Benoît Déhu continues the same course of action: minimal intervention winemaking , in indigenous yeasts , with barrel aging and very low dosages, sometimes non-existent. Each cuvée seeks to express a place, an exposure, a vintage, without aiming for effect or demonstration. Champagnes are distinguished by their ample texture , their fine bubble , and this discreet tension which stretches the mouth to a saline and persistent finish.
