Champagne Girard-Bonnet
Champagne Girard-Bonnet, the Côte des Blancs in a sensitive and lively version
Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, family heritage and return to life
Champagne Girard-Bonnet is currently led by Paul Girard, who unites under a single name the historic vineyards of his two families, between Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger, two emblematic villages of the Côte des Blancs. The estate covers about a dozen hectares, primarily planted with Chardonnay, farmed organically and biodynamically, with particular attention paid to the soil and the vitality of the vines.
Here, the work primarily aims to let the chalk and the fruit speak for themselves, without unnecessary embellishment.
Precise, chalky, and energetic champagnes
Vinifications are carried out with native yeasts, with aging in a combination of stainless steel, barrels, and sometimes amphorae, using a low-intervention approach. Paul Girard’s champagnes strike a very precise balance between the mineral tension of Le Mesnil and the broader generosity of Oger.
These are direct, saline, and vibrant cuvées that offer a very contemporary interpretation of Champagne: precise, lively, and deeply rooted in its terroir.
