Domaine les Menhirs
Les Menhirs, Olivier Humeau Sculpting Chenin in Anjou
Savennières and Anjou, a Winemaker Rooted in his Terroir
Based in Anjou, Olivier Humeau manages Domaine Les Menhirs with an approach deeply connected to his land. Coming from a family of winemakers, he took over the family estate in the early 2000s and quickly chose to steer the work towards more respectful viticulture, in line with the natural balance of the Loire vineyard.
The estate spans typical Anjou terroirs, characterized by schists and well-draining soils that give Chenin its tension and verticality. The vines are cultivated organically, with careful soil management and controlled yields.
Straightforward, Precise, and Deeply Loire-Style Wines
In the cellar, fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, without seeking any specific effect, in a logic of respecting the grape and the vintage. The aging process is carefully managed to preserve the balance between body and freshness, without masking the identity of the terroir.
Olivier Humeau's wines are distinguished by their straightforwardness, their mineral energy, and their ability to express Chenin in a style that is both taut and accessible. These are wines that genuinely tell the story of Anjou, without artifice, and naturally find their place at the table.
