Domaine Tessier
Domaine Tessier, Cour-Cheverny at its most vibrant
Cheverny, Romorantin, and family heritage
Located in Cheverny, at the heart of the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny appellations, Domaine Tessier is a must-visit address in the Loire. Created in 1961 by Roger Tessier, taken over by Philippe Tessier in 1981, the estate is now managed by Simon Tessier, who took the reins in 2020. The vineyard covers approximately 25 hectares, spread across the communes of Cormeray, Cheverny, and Cellettes, in a microclimate influenced by the Loire, the forests of Cheverny, Chambord, and Sologne.
The soils combine Sologne sands, clays, limestone, and gravels on shelly sands, offering a beautiful diversity of expressions. The estate cultivates the historical grape varieties of the sector: Romorantin for Cour-Cheverny, but also Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Orbois, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Côt, and Cabernet Franc for the Cheverny cuvées.
Organic since 1998, honest and sincere wines
Domaine Tessier has been certified organic since 1998, with careful soil work and a pursuit of balance in the vineyard. In the cellar, vinifications are carried out with little artifice: fermentations without heavy enological inputs, aging in tanks, concrete, barrels, or demi-muids depending on the cuvées, and controlled doses of sulfur.
The estate's wines are distinguished by their freshness, precision, and great drinkability. Romorantin, the emblematic grape variety of Cour-Cheverny, finds a particularly vibrant expression here, combining tension, texture, and depth. Cuvées like Les Sables, Charbonnerie, Le Point du Jour, or TOC ! each show a different facet of the estate, always with the same guiding principle: vibrant, fine, legible, and deeply Loire-inspired wines.
