Wasenhaus: Burgundian Spirit in the Heart of Baden

Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze, adopted Burgundians

Located in Staufen im Breisgau, in Baden, Wasenhaus is the project of Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze, two winemakers who have worked at several major Burgundian estates, including Comte Armand, Leflaive, and Pierre Morey. Back in Germany, they established their estate with a simple idea: to produce terroir-driven wines inspired by the great Burgundian balances, while revealing the exceptional potential of Baden's soils.

Precise Pinots, vinified with great restraint

The estate primarily works with Spätburgunder, Chardonnay, and Weissburgunder, sourced from plots spread across the volcanic soils of the Kaiserstuhl, the limestone terroirs of the Markgräflerland, and the hillsides around Staufen. Fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, the wines are neither fined nor filtered, and sulfur additions remain very limited. Aging in used barrels prioritizes finesse and terroir expression over the mark of wood. The result is wines of great precision, where freshness, texture, and elegance recall the finest Burgundian expressions, while fully asserting their German identity.
