Domaine de Vénus, the unexpected freshness of Roussillon
Maury, altitude and winds of the Fenouillèdes
Created in 2002 by a group of wine enthusiasts, Domaine de Vénus is located in Maury, in the heart of the Fenouillèdes, in the upper Agly valley. The vineyard now extends over some thirty hectares of hillsides situated between 300 and 500 meters of altitude, between the Corbières and the Pyrenees, in a wild landscape swept by the tramontane wind more than 300 days a year.
Far from the sometimes sunny and powerful image of Roussillon, the estate primarily seeks to preserve the natural freshness of this high-altitude terroir. The vines are cultivated using organic farming practices, certified across the entire estate since 2018, with particular attention paid to natural balances and the preservation of biodiversity.
Elegant wines, carried by time
Under the impetus of Laurent and Nathalie Abet, the estate produces wines in Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Maury, with a philosophy that favors finesse over showmanship. Vinifications are carried out gently, extractions remain measured, and aging often extends for several years between cellar and bottle to allow time to do its work.
The wines of Domaine de Vénus are distinguished by their balance between Mediterranean ripeness and high-altitude freshness. Deep reds, crisp whites, or characterful Maury wines: all vintages share this same quest for elegance and precision, the signature of an estate that has found its own path in the Roussillon landscape.
